Transport Information

Taxi: Taxis are available directly outside Dublin Airport (both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2). Taxis to the City Centre and to the RDS take approximately 25 minutes and will cost you around €25. Hailo and Uber are two other services that you may wish to use to get to/from the airport and around the city.

Aircoach: A bus service operates from Dublin Airport (both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2) that will drop you directly outside the RDS (Merrion Road – RDS) via the City Centre and also stops at some Dublin hotels. Aircoach timetables, routes and ticket information can be found on their website here.

Dublin Bus operates a public bus service – number 747 – that operates frequently from Dublin Airport into the city centre. Single tickets can be purchased for €6 and return tickets are €10. For more information click here.

Bank Holiday Monday 6th June. For IPVS | ESPHM delegates who arrive on the 6th June please note that the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon will be taking place and there will be certain road restrictions in place during the day – particularly between the hours of 14:00-17:00. These restrictions will be in place both in the city centre and around the RDS itself.



Registration for IPVS | ESPHM opens at 1pm Tuesday 7th June at the main entrance of the RDS (Merrion Road, Dublin 4).

Upon arrival please have your confirmation details to hand and one of the members of the IPVS | ESPHM Staff team will help you collect your badge. Pre-registered and pre-paid delegates’ name badges will be sorted by surname A-Z. Groups can also collect their badges at the main registration desk.

If you are an oral presenter, please go directly to the Speaker’s desk to collect your badge and you will be directed to check into the Speaker Ready Room.

Any outstanding payments must be processed at the on-site registration desk before entry to the congress is permitted.

Please wear your badge at all times. Lost badges will incur a reprint fee of €75.

A cloakroom will be available on-site and will be open during congress hours.

Continuing Veterinary Education (CVE) Credits

The Veterinary Council of Ireland will award Irish veterinarians at IPVS/ESPHM 2016 with a potential 18 CVE (Continuing Veterinary Education) credits for full attendance.

Total for full attendance = 18 CVE Credits

International delegates will receive a certificate of attendance post-congress that can be used to apply for continuing veterinary education points in their respective countries. This certificate will be emailed to you once the congress concludes.

Complimentary Wi-Fi will be available at the venue and instructions to obtain access will be given at registration and will also be included in the mini programme.

We hope you enjoy your stay at your hotel and experience our famous Irish hospitality. We would always recommend travellers to keep confirmation details to hand when checking in. As per most international hotels, check in will be at approximately 15:00hrs and check out at 12:00hrs.

Social Programme

Opening Ceremony & Welcome Reception

The IPVS | ESPHM opening ceremony will take place in Hall 2 of the RDS from 18:00 – 19:00 on Tuesday 7 June. The welcome reception immediately after the opening ceremony will run from 19:00 – 20:00 and offers you the chance to meet and greet your fellow delegates. Don’t forget to connect with each other first on the congress app.

The Irish weather is notoriously hard to predict so we recommend to at least bring a rain jacket with you when doing a tour. Comfortable walking shoes are also a must.  All tours will depart from and return to the RDS. Please meet your guide 10 minutes prior to departure time at the IPVS ESPHM Registration ‘Information’ Desk.

The above tours will involve physical activity so please dress accordingly. A comfortable jumper, pants and pair of runners should be fine.

Horse Racing Night

Thursday 9th – Ticketed Event     19:00 – 22:00
Dress code: smart casual

The Horse Racing Night will be a combination of great food, great music, thrilling and fast-paced horse races followed by a fantastic open air concert series encompassing all things Irish – all of which will make for a night you’re sure to remember! Coaches will begin leaving the RDS periodically from 17:00hrs but will continue to run until 18:30hrs to facilitate those attending the MSD symposium from 17:00 – 18:00. Please remember to have your conference badge on display when boarding buses back to the RDS from Leopardstown Racecourse. This will distinguish you from general members of the public. Coaches will return directly to the RDS.

Two packages were originally available to choose from for this event. Package 1 is now sold out but there is still limited availability for the ‘Summer Bundle’ which still offers you the chance to enjoy the races and the live entertainment. Gala Dinner Night

Friday 10th – Ticketed Event       19:00-22:00
Dress code: Smart

Come join us in the RDS Dublin for a superb sit down dinner prepared by award-winning chefs, and truly experience the taste of Ireland. Exciting Irish entertainment will follow and this evening will certainly prove to be one of the highlights of IPVS 2016! As with the Horse Racing Night, ticket availability for this event is limited and will sell out soon. Tickets can be purchased here, and will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Any tickets not sold before the event itself may be available to purchase at the congress, but this will be dependent on availability.

Delegates who have purchased a registration that includes content capture will be sent log in details two weeks after the congress to access this content.
